WHO WE ARE

NCL Collage.png

We are a focused  community  with a clear  vision

Niner Christian Life launched in 2013 with a desire to impact the University City district in Charlotte, which includes UNC Charlotte and the surrounding community. We were and are inspired by Jesus' words in Acts 1:8, where He said His followers should pursue people locally, regionally and globally, to help many people discover and follow after Him.

Our aim is clear and simple: to be devoted followers of Jesus Christ who help others be devoted to Him, in every stage of life. Whether you are a student, a young professional or seasoned worker, a spouse or parent, or whatever season of life you're in, we want to help you grow closer to God and live with purpose to honor Him!

WEEKLY RHYTHMS

We gather to worship the Lord, fellowship with one another

and share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Mission Monday

Weekly @ 6:30pm

As followers of Jesus Christ, we're told that a key responsibility we have is to tell others how they can know Him. One of the ways we do that is by initiating spiritual conversations on campus. We pray for people and share the gospel. We invite you to join us in this important work! And if you're new to it, this is a great opportunity to grow in confidence and skill in sharing truth.

Rhythm

Thursdays @ 7:30pm

Our weekly worship gathering on campus has engaging music, biblical teaching and opportunities to make solid friendships centered around Jesus. And because we know we're all busy, Rhythm also incorporates our small groups into the same evening! Come grow closer to Jesus with us!

Now meeting in Mebane Hall, Room 010!

Fellowship Friday

Weekly @ 6pm

At the end of a week of hard work, take a much-needed breather and come fellowship with us! We have a meal together each week (provided) and take time to catch up with one another and celebrate what God has done in our lives. Off campus, 6pm, at Keegan & Amy Rice's home.

Weekend House Churches

Sundays

Looking for an opportunity to worship on the weekends? We'd love for you to come to one of our house churches in the University City area! In addition to music and biblical teaching or discussion, we take time to care for each other and learn how to be disciples who are making disciples where we live, work and play. For more details on our house churches, including times and location, scroll below our event calendar.

GROW

WITH US

Wherever you are at in your relationship with God, we have a place for you to connect and grow in community.

Want to discover more about Jesus?

If you're not quite sure what to make of God and the Bible but are interested in learning more, we'd love to talk with you! Drop us a line (bottom of page) or talk with someone you've met at NCL about learning more about Jesus -- who He is and what He taught.

Discovery Churches

What exactly is church, anyway, and how should we be involved in it? These groups are for Christians who want to learn how to seek after God, in community. We'll grow in our biblical understanding and in our practice of what God says we're to do.

We're taking a brief break...

Our Discovery Churches that met on campus are on a summer hiatus, but more groups will be forming soon! We'll post updates here.

House Churches

Our house churches meet on the weekends in the homes of some of our regular members. The close-knit atmosphere offers the chance to form lasting friendships while also growing in relationship with God and learning how to put into practice what God has asked us to do in the Scripture. Our desire is to help each other live out all aspects of our relationship with God!

We currently have two house churches. While anyone is welcome to attend either house church, each one does have a distinct focus.

JORDAN COOKE

God used some bold and caring friends in college to help grab Jordan's attention and his heart during his freshman year at N.C. State. Hearing the gospel changed his life! Jordan has been in full-time vocational ministry since 2009 and has been NCL's only full-time staff member since 2018.

Keegan.png

KEEGAN RICE

God grabbed hold of Keegan in high school, but it wasn't until college that he started being obedient to God's commands. He is a nerd who loves reading, ultimate frisbee and video games. Keegan is married to Amy and has three beautiful girls: Aria, Riley and Joy!

SHANNON OVERBEY

PART-TIME STAFF

Shannon doubted God's love and her own salvation until encountering him afresh in college. God has since led her to NCL, where she serves as a bi-vocational ministry associate. Shannon also writes her own stories, kayaks any body of water large enough to hold a boat, and (somewhat intentionally) loses things at friends' houses. She is married to her partner-in-crime, Joe. :)

BERK WILSON

PASTOR @ GRACE COMMUNITY CHURCH (RALEIGH, NC)

While in school at Clemson University, Berk's heart was gripped by a passionate love for Jesus and a desire to see the nations reached for the gospel. Berk has been instrumental in discipling all three of NCL's pastors. He and his wife, Barbara, have raised six boys and currently live in Cary, NC.

OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH

THE SCRIPTURE
